Tom Waits With Claypool On Bass Added To Bridge School Benefit

Rock and Roll Hall Of Famer Tom Waits has just been added to the lineup for the Sunday installment of this year’s Bridge School Benefit Concerts. As a refresher, each year Neil and Pegi Young recruit a bevy of their musical friends to perform, usually unplugged, at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA to raise funds for The Bridge School. Waits, who hasn’t toured since 2008, will be backed by bassist Les Claypool, drummer Casey Waits, guitarist David Hidalgo and according to a statement announcing the addition “more.” We’ll find out what that means on Sunday, October 27.

This year’s lineup also features CSNY, Queens Of The Stone Age, My Morning Jacket, The Killers (Saturday Only), Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, fun., Jenny Lewis and Heart. “I had every good intention to stay home and work on my JD Salinger Halloween mask, but when Neil told me yesterday he was serving burnt cow’s eyes on a flat tire and it’s all gluten free, I invited myself!” said Waits in a statement. Waits performed at the 1999 and 2007 installments of the Bridge School Benefit Concerts. Head here for a look at the Bridge School lineups Through The Years

Claypool was one of the bassists Waits enlisted to help record Bad As Me. The statement announcing Tom’s appearance mentions his full acoustic set will feature songs from the recently released album.
