The String Cheese Incident Welcomes Rhonda Thomas At SweetWater 420 Fest

The String Cheese Incident delivered their second concert at SweetWater 420 Fest in Atlanta on Friday. SCI welcomed frequent collaborator and vocalist Rhonda Thomas for Aretha Franklin and Led Zeppelin classics.

Cheese got going with “Manga,” composed by percussionist Jason Hann. “Lost” followed ahead of the bluegrass standard “Rollin’ In My Sweet Baby’s Arms.” “BollyMunster” then proceeded a two-song set-closing section beginning with bassist Keith Moseley’s SCI classic “Joyful Sound,” which led into mandolinist Michael Kang’s epic “Rollover.”

SCI came out for their second frame with “Outside And Inside.” The sextet then welcomed Rhonda Thomas to helm Aretha Franklin’s “Rock Steady.” Cheese struck up the groove before Kang introduced Rhonda who got the crowd moving with a powerhouse vocal performance. While Thomas would return, SCI then went it alone for “Can’t Stop Now” before linking up “Pack It Up” and “Tinder Box” as well as “The Big Reveal” and “Colorado Bluebird Sky” to cap off the second set.

Rhonda returned with the band for the encore, Led Zeppelin’s “Ramble On.” Kang handled the verses while Thomas provided some more vocal fireworks on the chorus to bring SCI’s second SweetWater 420 Fest outing to a close. Cheese will perform a late night set tonight.
