The Rolling Stones To Play Free Concert In Cuba


Rock royalty The Rolling Stones have confirmed a groundbreaking concert in Havana, Cuba set for March 25. The free concert will be held at the Ciudad Deportiva de la Habana and will be the first open air concert in the country by a British Rock Band. Mick Jagger and Co.’s visit to Cuba will also mark The Rolling Stones’ first concert in the Caribbean.

Word of the concert comes after the band completes the America Latina Ole Tour which featured stops in Santiago, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio De Janeiro, São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Lima, Bogotá and Mexico City. The Rolling Stones said: “We have performed in many special places during our long career but this show in Havana is going to be a landmark event for us, and, we hope, for all our friends in Cuba too.” The concert will be filmed for future release. The Stones will also lead a musician to musician initiative in which much needed musical instruments and equipment are being donated by major suppliers including The Gibson Foundation, Vic Firth, RS Berkeley, Pearl, Zildjian, Gretsch, Latin Percussion, Roland and BOSS for the benefit of Cuban musicians of all genres.
