For the last two years, Founders Entertainment has put on The Meadows a multi-day music and arts festival that has taken place in the parking lots surrounding CitiField in New York City. On Friday, fest organizers announced that they would be taking 2018 off due to permit issues with hopes to return in 2019.
Founders Entertainment revealed in a statement that they had planned to move the event from outside of the home of the New York Mets to the nearby Flushing Meadows Corona Park, but that they weren’t able to work out the details with the New York City Parks Department. Over its first two years, The Meadows lineup has featured the likes of Jay Z, Kanye West, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gorillaz, Broken Social Scene, Kamasi Washington and Sylvan Esso.

After careful consideration, we have decided to take 2018 off and focus our efforts on returning in 2019. Our goal from day one has been to create a marquee, multi-day, fall music festival in Queens. After two great years at Citi Field, we were excited to shift our venue focus entirely to Flushing Meadows Corona Park – the location we always hoped to move to in year 3. However, after review of our application by NYC Parks, we were not able to obtain a workable multi-day permit for a 2018 festival in the park. Our sights are set on The Meadows in 2019, and we look forward to working together with all city partners and agencies.
