The Disco Biscuits kicked off their two night livestream run at Ardmore Music Hall on Friday. The show in Ardmore, Pennsylvania marked the Philadelphia-based band’s first of 2021.

After some banter about being able to see the folks tuning in on the livestream on a screen in front of the band, Bisco kicked things off with their classic “M.E.M.P.H.I.S.” The track appears on the jamtronica pioneers 1998 album, Uncivilized Area. After singing the rocker the band got into some minor jamming with keyboardist Aron Magner adding some synth elements and guitarist Jon Gutwillig reeling off some licks as drummer Allen Aucoin held down a solid beat. Bassist Marc Brownstein then led the band into “Rapture” with the song’s iconic bassline. The performance marked just the third time the band covered the Blondie classic since debuting it at Red Rocks during Bisco Inferno in May 2019.

The Biscuits then heeded into “Hero,” a newer song the group unveiled in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania during the opening run of their Fall/Winter Tour in 2019. “Hero” prefaced a pair of bust outs with an inverted version of the vintage “Little Lai,” the song last made an appearance in October 2019, which in turn segued into “The Bionic Helix,” last time played in December 2018. The latter was a jam that usually came during “Helicopters” early on but the quartet unveiled it as its own song under the title in 2017, as per Phantasy Tour. The Disco Biscuits brought the first frame to a close with a dyslexic rendition of another classic, “Confrontation.”

The second set saw the band finishing, or rather, beginning, the dyslexic version of “Confrontation” which also contained a “Bionic Helix” tease before heading into “Rocket Science.” While tDB debuted the song in 2019, the Gutwillig-composed number had made an appearance in his side project Kick Rocks as early as 2013. Next, another Gutwillig tune came in the form of “Spraypaint Victory” which headed into the classic “Voices Insane,” which was left unfinished. The aforementioned “Helicopters” (also unfinished) counted as the penultimate song of the evening before the band returned to “Spraypaint” to bring the show to a close.
