On Saturday host Chris Thile welcomed The Avett Brothers as guests on A Prairie Home Companion. The group’s appearance at The Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota included two songs off last year’s album True Sadness and a pair of tunes from deeper in the band’s history.

Guitarist Seth Avett and banjoist Scott Avett, along with bassist Bob Crawford, drummer Mike Marsh, cellist Joe Kwon, keyboardist Paul Defiglia and fiddler Tania Elizabeth began their Prairie Home performance with “No Hard Feelings” and a rendition of the True Sadness title track. They later returned to the stage at The Fitzgerald to perform “Murder In The City” off 2008’s The Second Gleam and “Hand Me Down Tune” which appeared on 2007’s Emotionalism.
