The Northeast leg of this summer’s Wheels Of Soul Tour concluded with a Saturday night concert in Rochester, New York followed by a Sunday night concert in Simsbury, Connecticut. Both shows featured collaborations during the Tedeschi Trucks Band‘s headlining sets, while Saturday’s performance had a few bonus sit-ins as well.
Wheels Of Soul rolled into Rochester on Saturday for performances from the TTB, Hot Tuna and The Wood Brothers at Highland Bowl. Susan Tedeschi sat-in with The Wood Brothers for “Never & Always.” Later in the night, The Wood Brothers returned the favor by adding to the Tedeschi Trucks Band’s debut version of “Sweet Virginia” by The Rolling Stones. Then, Hot Tuna guested with the TTB on “The Sky Is Crying.”
The collaborations at the Performing Arts Center At Simsbury Meadows in Simsbury, Connecticut on Sunday night were limited to a second version of “Sweet Virginia” featuring the Tedeschi Trucks Band and The Wood Brothers. Derek and Susan led their band through a bevy of originals including “Laugh About It,” “Right On Time,” “Idle Wind” and “Bound For Glory” as well as a handful of covers such as “Let’s Go Get Stoned,” “How Blue Can You Get” and “Comin’ Home.”
The tour continues on Wednesday night in Virginia Beach.
