Tedeschi Trucks Band Welcomes Oteil Burbridge, Dave Mason & Luther Dickinson In Boca

The Sunshine Music Festival took place in Florida this past weekends with stops in St. Petersburg on Saturday and Boca Raton on Sunday. Each year, the Tedeschi Trucks Band headlines the event and for their set on Sunday at Mizner Park Amphitheatre they welcomed a trio of special guests.

Towards the middle of the show, the Tedeschi Trucks Band brought out legendary performer Dave Mason of Traffic fame to lead the group on one of his signature songs, “Feelin’ Alright.” Mason had fronted the TTB on the song last fall during Derek and Susan’s Beacon run. Later in the set North Mississippi Allstars guitarist Luther Dickinson emerged for “Leavin’ Trunk” and “Volunteered Slavery.”

Dickinson wasn’t the last guest to help out as Dead & Company bassist Oteil Burbridge added to “Space Captain,” a song popularized by Joe Cocker, as part of the evening’s encore. Oteil Burbridge was a founding member of the Tedeschi Trucks Band but moved on during the group’s early days. He was also a longtime band mate of Derek Trucks as part of The Allman Brothers Band. The TTB continue their first tour of 2017 tomorrow night in Memphis.
