The Wheels Of Soul Tour featuring Tedeschi Trucks Band, Los Lobos and North Mississippi Allstars came to SPAC in Saratoga Springs, New York on Wednesday night, where the headliners once again welcomed members of both opening acts to share the stage. The TTB’s set saw sit-ins from Cesar Rosas, David Hidalgo and Steve Berlin of Los Lobos as well as NMAS’s Luther Dickinson.
The Tedeschi Trucks Band kicked off their set with “Laugh About It” and “Made Up Mind” ahead of their first cover of The Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Darlin’ Be Home Soon” since March. One of the evening’s biggest surprises came next as the TTB trotted out The Derek Trucks Band staple “Swamp Raga” for the first time since 2015 and just the third time ever as per Setlist.fm. A cover of The Beatles’ “Within You Without You” came next.
Guest appearances started towards the end of the headliner’s main set as Rosas emerged for “The Sky Is Crying.” Next up was Dickinson lending his skills to “Angel From Montgomery,” while the set closed with a jam that led into “Let Me Get By” with Luther. The encore featured Hidalgo and Berlin sitting-in on covers of Traffic’s “Who Knows What Tomorrow May Bring” and Titus Turner’s “Sticks & Stones.” The tour continues tomorrow night at Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor, Maine.
