The Tedeschi Trucks Band recently concluded another monster year of touring with three nights in Boston. Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks led the group in adding a bevy of tunes to the repertoire in 2017 and one of the last was a Susan-sung cover of “Alabama” by Neil Young. Today, the TTB shared official audio of version recorded at the Fox in Oakland on November 18.

Neil Young originally recorded “Alabama” for his legendary 1972 album Harvest. While at first it was a staple of his live repertoire, the only documented live version of “Alabama” between 1973 and 2015 came at a hospital in 1977. The Tedeschi Trucks Band debuted their cover of “Alabama” in Phoenix on November 15 and went on to perform the tune a number of times through the remainder of 2017.

“Tedeschi Trucks Band is gearing up to record our next album. We warmed up the studio last week mixing a live track from our November 18 show at the Fox Theater in Oakland. This Neil Young song is as timely now as when it was written,” said Derek Trucks in a statement.
