Earlier this week we reported the news that longtime Tedeschi Trucks Band multi-instrumentalist Kofi Burbridge had to undergo emergency heart surgery in Atlanta. Yesterday the band took to their Facebook page to provide an update to their fans about Burbridge, as well as to share some news about about a lineup addition for their upcoming summer tour.

Here’s the full message from the band:

We are so happy to report the good news that our brother Kofi Burbridge is doing very well following his surgery and his doctors expect a full recovery. Kofi is in good spirits but will need time off to rest and get his strength back before he returns to the road. In the meantime, and with Kofi’s blessing, a talented young keyboard player named Carey Frank will be playing keyboards on the Wheels of Soul Tour this summer. The band welcomes Carey into the TTB family and looks forward to a great run of shows until Kofi is ready to get to get back on stage.

Tedeschi Trucks Band will kick off their Wheels of Soul tour with Carey Frank on July 1 at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford, New Hampshire.
