Watch Tank & The Bangas Perform ‘Cafe Du Monde’ With Trombone Shorty + Jamison Ross
Check out a "Backyard Session" performance of the 'Red Balloon' track.
Tank and the Bangas shared a “Backyard Session” video for “Cafe Du Monde” featuring trombonist Trombone Shorty and vocalist Jamison Ross. Both Trombone Shorty and Jamison Ross contributed to the studio version that appears on the band’s recently released studio album, Red Balloon.
“Cafe Du Monde” takes its name and inspiration from the iconic cafe located in Tank And The Bangas’ hometown of New Orleans. The band gave few notes to Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews when they were recording the studio version. “If there was any instruction it was just, ‘Oh, just build towards the end,'” Tank And The Bangas’ multi-instrumentalist Albert Allenback revealed on The JamBase Podcast. “When he took his solos, I remember that night he was just going for it.”
Tank And The Bangas’ Joshua Johnson added that the band was going for an Earth Wind & Fire vibe. “He’s so good and sensitive and tasteful,” noted Allenback of the trombonist. “His interpretation is impeccable in the moment.”
