Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park hosted the second day of this year’s SweetWater 420 Fest on Saturday. The event featured three stages of music and an “Experience Tent” that included live podcasts, auctions, tastings, workshops and more. Augusta’s Funk You kicked off the action on the main stage before New Orleans guitarist Anders Osborne led his band of bassist Ron Johnson, drummer Chad Cromwell and keyboardist Dave Torkanowsky on a set that saw Scott Metzger sit-in on “Five Bullets” and “Burning On The Inside.” Marco Benevento played a total of three sets on Saturday at 420 Fest. First, he led his trio featuring drummer Andy Borger and bassist Karina Rykman on the Planet 420 Stage. Later, he took part in a pair of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead sets on the main SweetWater Stage.

Drummer Joe Russo, bassist Dave Dreiwitz, Metzger, Benevento and guitarist Tom Hamilton opened with “Cats Under The Stars” and worked through “The Wheel,” “Estimated Prophet,” “He’s Gone,” “China Cat Sunflower” > “I Know You Rider,” “Not Fade Away” and more over the course of their two sets. The fitting “One More Saturday Night” brought JRAD’s time on the SweetWater Stage to a close. SOJA, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer and The Infamous Stringdusters were among the others acts to play the 420 Fest on Saturday before the Tedeschi Trucks Band ended the night. Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi and the rest of their 12-piece band focused on originals at the start such as “Made Up Mind” and “Midnight In Harlem” and then worked a number of covers into the mix. Taz was the Tedeschi Trucks Band’s special guest on both a “Statesboro Blues” towards the end of the set and a medley of Sly & The Family Stone’s “Sing A Simple Song” and “I Want To Take You Higher” that served as encore. Ian Rawn was on hand to capture the action on Saturday. Check out a full gallery of Ian’s work:
