Jamtronica act STS9 will host and headline the inaugural Wave Spell music festival in Belden, California August 16 – 19. STS9 and fellow organizers Euphonic Conceptions and Cervantes’ have announced the lineup for the four-day event.
“We’re proud to present a new experience, a small intimate festival focused completely on music, art, and community,” the band explained in an announcement. “We envision a small utopia where the music and art flow constantly, nonstop at all hours, day and night. We plan to take over Belden Town in Northern Cali, and create a space where you can get away and immerse yourself in all sorts of activities: workshops, yoga, swimming, beach, and so much more!”
STS9 will play three “Wave Spell” sets and six additional sets. “For those who don’t know, Wave Spell is STS9 in its rawest form. Where we don’t write a set list or talk about what we want to play, we just tap into the moment and let the music happen. We’re very excited to share in this experience with you – to feed off each other’s energy and make something truly special in the moment. Can’t wait to see where the music takes us,” added the band. Tribe issued a Wave Spell album earlier this year.
ediT, Ooah, SunSquabi, Manic Focus, Charlesthefirst, Michal Menert, Electric Beethoven, Modern Measure and Prefuse 73 are also among the acts confirmed to play Wave Spell Live ’18. In addition, a supergroup dubbed the BAAD Quartet featuring Dominic Lalli of Big Gigantic, STS9 bassist Alana Rocklin, Lettuce drummer Adam Deitch and Break Science keyboardist Borahm Lee will make their debut at the festival.
