The String Cheese Incident surprised fans today with a new single, “Lightning Sky.” The track marks the band’s first new studio music since in two years.

“Lightning Sky” follows SCI’s 2024 single, “Roll Around The Sun,” as well as their 2023 album, Lend Me A Hand. Cheese unveiled “Lightning Sky” live at their recent Just Keep Spinning Tour kickoff in San Antonio.

The band tapped acclaimed producer Brad Cook (Bon Iver, Hiss Golden Messenger, Nathaniel Rateliff, Waxahatchee) to helm “Lightning Sky.” Songwriter and SCI bassist Keith Moseley further detailed the song.

“‘Lightning Sky’ was inspired by a road trip to Oklahoma that my wife Kristin and I took to visit my family,” he said. “The song leans into the idea of connecting with the wisdom of the spiritual world and honoring family past and present. It is meant to be an homage and a celebration. We hope you enjoy it. Woo hoo hoo!”
