Legendary rocker Neil Young recorded a 10-track, all-acoustic album on August 11, 1976 and then locked it away in his vaults. The LP, Hitchhiker, is finally due out next Friday. NPR Music has shared a streaming version of Hitchhiker as part of the First Listen series.
Young laid down Hitchhiker at Indigo Studios in Malibu on August 11, 1976 with longtime studio collaborator, producer David Briggs. Neil then tapped more recent collaborator John Hanlon to handle post-production duties. Hitchhiker features a mix of previously unreleased tunes and longtime favorites.
Neil will talk about the album live on Facebook tonight at 6:30 p.m. PT/9:30 p.m. ET.
