Gimme Shelter In Place: Strangefolk Covers Gillian Welch’s ‘Tear My Stillhouse Down’

Gimme Shelter In Place is JamBase’s archival video series launched for fans who right now can’t go see live music. Canceled concerts and music festivals due to social distancing and sheltering in place in response to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic brought a halt to tours around the globe. We know nothing can truly replace seeing live music in person, but we hope the Gimme Shelter In Place live videos provide a taste of those memorable experiences.
In 2016, after the success of the previous year’s Songs Of Their Own Grateful Dead covers series, JamBase presented the Twenty Years Later video project featuring bands covering songs off of albums released in the year 1996.

Strangefolk guitarists Reid Genauer and Jon Trafton, were part of the 20YL project. Their contributions four years ago included covers of “6th Avenue Heartache” by The Wallflowers and “Good Friday” by The Black Crowes.
That was not all Team JamBase recorded during Genauer and Trafton’s session at our offices in San Francisco back in 2016. The pair of guitarists also worked up an arrangement of Gillian Welch‘s “Tear My Stillhouse Down.” Welch originally released the song on her 1996 debut album, Revival.
