Stephen Colbert is clearly a man who loves his job. The host of The Late Show is a big fan of Jack Johnson and joined the Hawaii-based musician and his band for their performance on Tuesday night’s episode of the CBS late-night talk show.
“Folks, this is the best job in the world, because I got what I wanted,” Colbert said at the start of his introduction. “Now with a special performance of one of my favorite songs of his, ‘Sleep Through The Static,’ ladies and gentlemen…Jack Johnson.” With that, Jack Johnson, his band and Stephen Colbert presented the first-ever national television performance of the title track from Jack’s 2008 studio album. Colbert shared lead vocal duties with Jack Johnson while keyboardist Zach Gill chimed in with harmony vocals.
