In addition to celebrating Bob Dylan’s 75th birthday on May 24, the pair of concerts will honor the 50th anniversary of the 1966 original release of the legendary singer-songwriter’s first album recorded entirely in Nashville, Blonde On Blonde. The Best Fest’s The Cabin Down Below Band will serve as house band and one of the original “Nashville Cats,” Charlie McCoy (who contributed to the Blonde On Blonde, Nashville Skyline and John Wesley Harding LPs) will sit-in on harmonica as well.
“We are thrilled and grateful to celebrate the life and legacy of Bob Dylan at the legendary Ryman Auditorium,” said The Best Fest founder Austin Scaggs. “To honor Bob and raise money for a wonderful charity is a win-win.”
Other artists who have been similarly honored by The Best Fest with tribute concerts include George Harrison, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Tom Petty and others including a number of Dylan Fest celebrations. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales of Dylan Fest 2016 will go toward the Nashville-based charity Thistle Farms which supports a community of women who have survived prostitution, trafficking and addiction.
