Squeaky Feet shared a new single entitled “Common Ground.” The track is the final preview of the Colorado-based band’s upcoming sophomore album, Overview Effect.
Squeaky Feet guitarists Colin Shore and Greg King, bassist Jimmy Finnegan, keyboardist Brian Keller and drummer Kevin D’Angelo issued their debut album, Cause For Alarm, in 2023. “Common Ground” joins prior shared Overview Effect singles, “The Detective,” “Brainrot” and “Irish Goodbye.”
“Lyrically, ‘Common Ground’ explores the harmony between the soul and the mind, addressing the cognitive dissonance we often experience,” Colin Shore said. “It’s about finding a union between our inner selves and the external world.”
Though the “Common Ground” lyrics are not “overtly political,” in order to help amplify its message, Squeaky Feet teamed with voter registration organization Headcount for the single’s rollout.
“Musically, ‘Common Ground’ came together spontaneously,” Greg King stated. “I aimed to create a space that allowed Colin’s lyrics to shine while maintaining the heavier instrumental vibe that the song naturally gravitated toward.”
Squeaky Feet will release Overview Effect on October 17. Listen to “Common Ground” below:
