Spafford started a jaunt through Tennessee on Thursday night, landing in Nashville for a show at Cannery Hall. Music City was treated to the band’s premiere performance of the theme from Fraggle Rock.
The original Fraggle Rock series spanned five seasons in the 1980s and featured a subset of Jim Henson’s Muppets known as Fraggles. The children’s program’s memorable opening credit sequence was soundtracked by an equally memorable theme song, “Down At Fraggle Rock.”

Spafford premiered their take on the show’s theme as the penultimate song of a four-song first set at Cannery Hall. Segueing out of “Gold Glittered Hat,” the quartet used the familiar TV tune as a launching point into a spacey, funky, 10-minute improvised sequence. Spafford followed the cover debut by transitioning into “The Postman” to close out the first set.
Another four-song second set completed last night’s concert, anchored by a +25-minute “Dirtbath.” John Lennon’s poignant “Jealous Guy” landed in the encore slot.
Spafford moves across Tennessee for a show tonight in Chattanooga. Listen to the official audio of last night’s Nashville concert featuring their “Down At Fraggle Rock” debut via nugs.net below:
