Sierra Ferrell Leaves A ‘Trail Of Flowers’ At NPR ‘Tiny Desk Concert’

NPR’s office was fittingly adorned with an array of flowers for Sierra Ferrell’s Tiny Desk Concert performance. The multi-talented singer-songwriter’s set focused on songs from her excellent new album, Trail Of Flowers.

Ferrell’s sophomore studio album, Trail Of Flowers, arrived in March via Rounder Records. Ferrell recorded the bulk of Trail Of Flowers at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville, the city where she is currently based.

Backed by sharply-dressed longtime cohorts, mandolinist/guitarist Josh Rilko and fiddler/guitarist Oliver Bates Craven, along with bassist Geoff Saunders and drummer Matty Meyer, Ferrell played fiddle while kicking off her Tiny Desk set with “I Could Drive You Crazy.”

Switching to acoustic guitar, Ferrell continued with another Trail Of Flowers selection, “Dollar Bill Bar.” Next came “In Dreams,” the lone song from Ferrell’s 2021 debut album, Long Time Coming.

The performance ended with what Ferrell said she felt was the title track of Trail Of Flowers, “American Dreaming.” Watch the intimate performance for NPR below:
