Sierra Ferrell stopped by Minnesota Public Radio’s The Current in April to deliver a studio session. The singer-songwriter performed songs from her new album, Trail Of Flowers.

Trail Of Flowers arrived on March 22 through Rounder Records. Sierra previously detailed the new LP.

“With Trail of Flowers, I wanted to make a fuller sound with bigger drums, but still stay true to the stripped-down feel of old-time music whenever it felt right. I wanted to create something that makes people feel nostalgic for the past, but excited about the future of music.”

Ferrell played guitar and fiddle alongside her band: Joshua Rilko (mandolin, guitar), Geoffrey Saunders (bass), Oliver Bates Craven (guitars, fiddle) and Matty Meyer (drums). The group kicked off their Current session with Trail Of Flowers’ second track, “Dollar Bill Bar.”

She then delivered album opener “American Dreaming” before closing out the session with Trail Of Flowers lead single, “Fox Hunt.” Sierra also chatted with host Jessica Paxton.
