Show Goes On For Umphrey’s And Biscuits At Mayan Holidaze

This year’s Mayan Holidaze got off to an auspicious start when driving rain enveloped the Now Sapphire Resort in Puerto Morelos, Mexico towards the end of Day One. Event organizers and band crew members didn’t let the rain bring the evening to a close, as they converted a meeting room at the resort into a venue so that Umphrey’s McGee and the Disco Biscuits could still play.

Umphrey’s org member Kevin Browning shared a quick look at the changeover:

Both bands utilized practice gear to perform a set a piece. Umphrey’s tipped their hat towards the weather by covering “Fool In The Rain” by Led Zeppelin and delivered the rare “triple sandwich” as portions of “Bridgeless,” “Higgins” and “August” were weaved together to form the majority of the set. Meanwhile, the Disco Biscuits presented a set filled with classic material including “Helicopters,” “I-Man” and an inverted version of “Crickets.”

Let’s hope the weather improves for today’s Day Two.
