Shook Twins issued “Try As I Might Do,” a new single penned by Laurie Shook. “Try As I Might Do” is the fifth and final song featured on Shook Twins’ thought of a b-side EP.

Read a note from Laurie about the song below:

I had rented this little apartment overlooking the little cafe next to the water taxi pier in a perfect little bay. I went to Mexico to clear my mind. I spent the first day in that apartment crying yet enjoying rare solitude. I decided to tune my little pal of a baby classical guitar to open G (or banjo tuning) then a little riff came out that matched my yearning as i claw hammered the guitar like i would my banjo. something honest came out, something vulnerable. Admitting that i was not my strongest, and that trying my hardest to let go wasn’t enough, then an acceptance of that felt calming somehow. As i wrote it, i had the vision of recording it doubled up, two voices in unison, and 2 classical guitars playing the same thing. then i remembered i have a twin who could double me. So that’s how we recorded it, singing unison as i played, side by side, one take, in a living room. Then i doubled the claw hammer guitar. Then Niko added his ethereal E bow vibes and at the end, we let it delay and swirl all together somehow with the magic of the @coykendallmike touch. it’s a sad little sweetie for the love that will always be.

thought of a b-side features the additional single “See It Though” and acoustic versions of three songs from their 2019 full-length album, Some Good Lives. Stream “Try As I Might Do” below:
