The Shins Cover The Smiths For Spotify Singles

Last year, Spotify launched a series of live in-studio recordings dubbed Spotify Singles. The Shins are the latest group to participate in a session at the streaming platform’s New York City studio during which they covered The Smiths and played a song from their recently issued LP Heartworms.

Frontman James Mercer led the group through their arrangement of The Smiths’ “Panic.” Following their cover of the popular 1986 single penned by Morrissey and Johnny Marr, The Shins also offered a rendition of “Name For You,” which appeared on Heartworms and was released as a single earlier this year.
