Shakira & Wyclef Jean Reunite For ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ In Newark

Shakira brought her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour to Wyclef Jean's formative hometown of Newark, New Jersey on Tuesday. The pair reunited during the Colombian superstar’s 27-song concert at the Prudential Center for a joint performance of “Hips Don’t Lie.”

Wyclef emerged in the middle of Shakira’s main set, leading to huge cheers of appreciation from the sold-out crowd. Jean reprised his verses on the blockbuster hit and served as MC, urging fans to put their hands in the air and sing along.

Shakira issued “Hips Don’t Lie” as a single in 2006. The rework of Jean’s 2004 track “Dance Like This” propelled the Colombian singer-songwriter to global superstardom. Jean and Shakira collaborated on both the song’s lyrics and music.

The pair have performed “Hips Don’t Lie” several times over the years. Most recently, Shakira and Wyclef Jean celebrated the 20th anniversary of the song with versions at a handful of Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour 2025 tour stops and the same year on The Tonight Show.

Shakira kept the rest of the show in line with other Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour performances. The setlist featured five songs from the 2025 album that gave the trek its name, along with such fan-favorites as “La Tortura,” “Ojos Asi,” “Underneath Your Clothes” and “Whenever, Wherever.”

Shakira now turns her attention to performing at the World Cup Final Halftime Show in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday, July 19. The tour resumes the following night in Brooklyn.
