School of Seven Bells Album/Tour

School of Seven Bells Sign To Ghostly International, Release 7″
With Full-Length Debut To Follow, Tour with M83

School of Seven Bells
NYC’s School of Seven Bells is very excited to announce they have signed with Ghostly International for the release of 7″/Digital single, Half Asleep/Caldo on September 16, followed by their long-awaited full-length debut, Alpinisms, on October 28. The band is also preparing for a North American tour with M83 this November.

Born as the result of a late-night revelation. Benjamin Curtis and twin sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza found themselves in a new and unique partnership while their bands – Secret Machines and On!Air!Library! respectively – were on tour together. From the outset, it was clear that the trio’s musical collaborations transcended the usual genre restrictions.

Formed in NYC in 2007, SVIIB released a very select and highly-celebrated handful of 7″s and compilation tracks through various labels such as Sonic Cathedral (with a remix by Cocteau Twins’ Robin Guthrie), Table of the Elements, and Suicide Squeeze. This caught the ears of Blonde Redhead and Prefuse 73, who then handpicked them to join their North American tours late last year.

Now, the band will prepare for the release of its forthcoming 7″ single and full-length, Alpinisms, via their new-found label home. See below for M83 tour dates.

“School of Seven Bells, founded by ex-Secret Machines guitarist Ben Curtis and featuring twin-sister singers Alejandra and Claudia Deheza, slipped easily between epochs – medieval polyphony, laptop sorcery, the rhythmic turmoil of Public Image Ltd.’s 1981 album, Flowers of Romance — with smart hooks and the Dehezas’ alluring vocals, liberally greased with reverb.” -David Fricke, Rolling Stone

“A promising blend of the psychedelic and the futuristic.” -Jon Pareles, The New York Times
