San Francisco Fest 2016 – On The Green :: 9.4.16 :: AT&T Park :: San Francisco, CA

In a nod to the “Day On The Green” concert series established in 1973 by Bay Area promoter Bill Graham, veteran rock bands Santana, Journey, Steve Miller Band, The Doobie Brothers and Tower Of Power recently came together for a San Francisco Fest concert held at AT&T Park. The daylong event billed “San Francisco Fest 2016 – On The Green” saw Santana welcome guitarist (and brother of Carlos Santana) Jorge Santana for a number of songs during a set that featured such classics as “Evil Ways,” “Soul Sacrifice,” “Oye Como Va” and others. Journey delivered a set packed with hits like “Who’s Crying Now,” “Open Arms,” “Faithfully” and “Don’t Stop Believin.'” Fellow Bay Area natives The Doobie Brothers came out of the gate with “Jesus Is Just Alright” and “Rockin’ Down the Highway” while also offering takes on favorites “Takin’ It to the Streets,” “Black Water” and “Listen To The Music.”

Recent Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Steve Miller and his band capped their performance with “The Joker” following renditions of Paul Pena’s “Jet Airliner” and other classic Steve Miller Band cuts including “Jungle Love,” “Fly Like An Eagle” and “Swingtown.” Oakland’s Tower Of Power served as special guests and gave those in attendance a chance to hear “Soul With a Capital S,” “So Very Hard to Go,” “Soul Vaccination,” “You’re Still A Young Man” and “What Is Hip?” along with other funky numbers. Photographer Sterling Munksgard was at AT&T Park and captured scenes from throughout the day of performances, view his gallery followed by audience-shot video and setlists from San Francisco.
