Foo Fighters, Carole King & JAY-Z Among 2021 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees

Foo Fighters, Carole King and Jay-Z are among the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame nominees. Inductees for the 2021 class will be announced in May 2021.

Foo Fighters, Carole King (as a performer) and JAY-Z are first-time nominees, along with The Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden, Fela Kuti and Dionne Warwick. Others nominated for the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame include Mary J. Blige, Kate Bush, Devo, Chaka Khan, LL Cool J, New York Dolls, Rage Against The Machine, Todd Rundgren and Tina Turner.

King’s nomination comes on the 50th anniversary of the release of her landmark album, Tapestry. She was previously inducted into the Rock Hall in 1990 with her writing partner and ex-husband Gerry Goffin as recipients of the then-called “Non-Performer Award,” which became the Ahmet Ertegun Award in 2008. Turner was inducted with her ex-husband Ike Turner in 1991. Grohl went into the Rock Hall in 2014 as a member of Nirvana.

“This remarkable ballot reflects the diversity and depth of the artists and music the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrates,” said Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation chairman John Sykes. “These nominees have left an indelible impact on the sonic landscape of the world and influenced countless artists that have followed them.”

Eligibility for the Rock Hall comes 25 years after an artist’s first commercial recording. Over 1,000 musicians, historians and other members of the music industry will receive ballots to vote for the nominees. Additionally, the Fan Vote is available now through April 30 for fans to choose from this year’s nominees. The “fans ballot” will be made up of the top five vote-getters and tallied with the other ballots.
