Rising Appalachia will travel by Amtrak train throughout the Southwest starting on March 28 in New Orleans and moving through New Mexico, Arizona and Texas in support of a new album, Wider Circles, which is due on April 21. The band has also announced a number of Northeast dates in May including stops in New York, Portland, Northampton and Philadelphia.
Singer-songwriters Leah Song and Chloe Smith mix their many influences to create the 15 tracks on Wider Circles. Leah and Chloe are joined by full-time band members Biko Casini (world percussion) and David Brown (stand-up bass / baritone guitar) on the new LP, which was inspired by folk standards and traditional hyms, old mountain odes and activist anthems. “The album is a deep reflection of the many influences and experiences we have intimately lived and have built our songs on,“ explained Leah in a press release. “Wider Circles is a subtle and powerful folk anthem.”
