Ringo Starr Shares New Single Featuring Dave Stewart

A new solo album entitled Give More Love by The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr will be issued on September 15. “So Wrong For So Long,” the latest single from the forthcoming LP, has been shared by the renowned musician.

Ringo co-wrote “So Wrong For So Long” with Dave Stewart, who also appears on the country-tinged track. The song was recorded with pedal steel guitarist Greg Leisz, bassist Nathan East, keyboardist Jim Cox and backing vocalists Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman. The song was the first written when Starr and Stewart originally set out to record a country album.

“Dave Stewart and I were going to go down to Nashville and do a country album there,” Starr told Billboard, who premiered the single. “So we thought we should write a few country songs for when we get there. The first one we wrote here in the house was called ‘So Wrong for So Long.’ Then I got offered another tour with the All Starr Band, and it was an offer I couldn’t resist. That’s how I ended up making another album at home and writing all kinds of songs with all kinds of friends – everybody giving more love, and just letting the music flow.”

Additional guests recruited for Starr’s 19th solo album included his former The Beatles band mate Paul McCartney, Ringo’s brother-in-law Joe Walsh, Edgar Winter, Steve Lukather, Peter Frampton, Benmont Tench, Richard Marx, Don Was and others. Stream “So Wrong For So Long” below:
