The Ries Brothers teamed with members of The Lumineers, Iration, Steve Miller Band and Gary Clark Jr.‘s band remotely to record a mashup featuring covers of The Police’s “Don’t Stand So Close To Me” and “So Lonely.” JamBase is pleased to premiere the resulting video.

Consisting of Charlie Ries and Kevin Jordan Ries, The Ries Brothers are gearing up to release a new album entitled Paint Your Emotion next Friday, September 18 via CSSL/MegaForce Records. Nine of the 10 tracks on the John Agnello-produced LP were written solely by the two brothers. JamBase is giving away a private 30-minute Zoom party for you and up to 20 of your friends with The Ries Brothers. Head here to enter by October 10 for a chance to win.

Charlie Ries (vocals) and Kevin Jordan Ries (guitar) are joined in The Police mashup video by The Lumineers bassist Byron Isaacs, Gary Clark Jr.’s drummer Johnny Radelat, Steve Miller Band keyboardist Joseph Wooten and Iration guitarist Micah Brown. Read a note from The Ries Brothers discussing the collaboration:

From the very first day of lock down, we had a call with our manager who said, ‘It sucks that all our tours and festivals are being postponed but lets figure out how to stay relevant during these trying times and have fun with whatever we can and maybe we come out of this at least where we hoped we’d of been.’ We thought lets find a way to collaborate on a song with a few other musicians. Music is what gets us by these tough times so us and our manager David Parnes said let’s just hit up a bunch of guys we have a relationship with and some who have shared a stage with us or who had been to a Ries Brothers show, they just happen to be some of our favorite musicians and some of the most talented guys out there from amazing projects, So with this talent, we figured lets do some cool relevant covers.

Kevin Jordan Ries produced the track after learning how to use Logic Pro X. “Leave it to The Ries Brothers to demonstrate the power of rock and roll to meet adversity with a smile … proud to be included with all these killer musicians for this rad project,” Byron Isaacs said of the mashup. “What a much needed, exciting project. It’s an honor to tribute one of my favorite bands with these incredibly talented musicians! Honest music for honestly difficult times,” added Johnny Radelat.
