One year ago today we learned legendary performer Joe Cocker died after a long battle with lung cancer. Cocker was best known for his gritty voice and his unusual stage presence, which was famously parodied by John Belushi. Joe had a way of adding his own spirit to the many covers he sang over the years with his version of The Beatles’ “A Little Help From My Friends” among his trademark performances. Cocker scored a number of hits over the years including 1975’s “You Are So Beautiful” and 1983’s “Up Where We Belong,” a duet with Jennifer Warnes.
One of Cocker’s career highlights was a fantastic set with his Grease Band at the original Woodstock festival in 1969. Joe returned for Woodstock 1994 and showed he still had the distinctive voice that rocketed him to fame decades earlier. Full show video of Cocker’s set has been shared on YouTube by Music Vault. The vocalist and his band performed many of his trademark songs including “With A Little Help From My Friends,” “The Letter,” “High Time We Went” and “When The Night Comes.”
