Ray LaMontagne will release a new album, Long Way Home, on August 16 through his new independent label Liula Records. LaMontagne also detailed headlining tour dates in September supporting the record’s release.

LaMontagne co-produced the follow-up to 2020’s MONOVISION with Seth Kauffman at LaMontagne’s home studio. LaMontagne will share the Long Way Home lead single, “Step Into Your Power” on June 5.

The nine-song album was influenced by LaMontagne’s experience at age 21 seeing Townes Van Zandt perform at an intimate venue in Minneapolis. Van Zandt’s song “To Live Is To Fly,” particularly its lyric “When here you been is good an gone, all you keep is the getting there,” made a lasting impression on LaMontagne.

“Thirty years later it occurs to me that every song on Long Way Home is in one way or another honoring the journey,” LaMontagne stated. “The languorous days of youth and innocence. The countless battles of adulthood, some won, more often lost. It’s been a long hard road, and I wouldn’t change a minute. It took me nine songs to express what Townes managed to say in one line. I guess I still got a lot to learn.”

The first three songs on Long Way Home feature backing vocals by The Secret Sisters who will support LaMontagne at his newly announced September 2024 headlining tour dates, as well as upcoming tour dates with Gregory Alan Isakov. The fresh batch of tour dates begins on September 17 at the Abraham Chavez Theatre in El Paso, Texas followed by a stop at Austin’s ACL Live at the Moody Theater on September 19. LaMontagne will then head to the Music Hall at Fair Park in Dallas on September 20 and the Orpheum Theatre in New Orleans on September 21.

The tour continues to Chattanooga, Tennessee where he will perform at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Auditorium on September 22 and on to Birmingham, Alabama for a show at the Alabama Theatre on September 24.

A Florida leg of the tour starts on September 26 at The Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, followed by the Broward Center for the Performing Arts – Au Rene Theater in Fort Lauderdale on September 27, concluding at the Steinmetz Hall at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando on September 28.

Artist pre-sale tickets will be available beginning Tuesday, June 4 at 10 a.m. local venue time. Additional presales will continue throughout the week before the general ticketing on-sale starting on Friday, June 7 at 10 a.m. local.
