Watch Punch Brothers & Watchhouse Perform ‘I Must Be In A Good Place Now’

Punch Brothers shared pro-shot video featuring a cover of “I Must Be In A Good Place Now” played with Watchhouse. The footage was captured during Punch Brothers’ sold-out NightGrass concert at the Sheridan Opera House in Telluride, Colorado back on June 19.

The video arrives as both bands prepare to embark on the final leg of their American Acoustic Tour with Sarah Jarosz. Punch Brothers, Watchhouse and Jarosz perform at Pines Theater in Florence, Massachusetts tonight and at Westville Music Bowl in New Haven, Connecticut tomorrow. All three acts appear at the Philadelphia Folk Festival in Schwenksville, Pennsylvania on Friday and end the trek with sets at Manchester, Vermont’s Green Mountain Bluegrass & Roots Festival on Saturday.

Late New Orleans-based singer-songwriter Bobby Charles wrote “I Must Be In A Good Place Now” for inclusion on his self-titled 1972 debut studio album. The LP includes contributions from members of The Band, Dr. John, David Sanborn, Ben Keith, Amos Garrett and many others. Charles recorded the Rick Danko/John Simon co-produced album at Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, New York. Lukas Nelson, Vetiver and Fruit Bats are among artists who have covered “I Must Be In A Good Place Now.”

Watchhouse — the duo of Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz — were brought out by Punch Brothers to end their Telluride Bluegrass late night concert on June 19 with a take on Sufjan Stevens’ “Mystery Of Love” and the Bobby Charles cover. Andrew and Emily share lead vocal duties on “I Must Be In A Good Place Now.” Punch Brothers’ fiddler Gabe Witcher and mandolinist Chris Thile each took gorgeous solos. “We’re gonna have a fun summer together,” Thile exclaimed at the conclusion of the song.
