This past weekend, Chicago sextet Umphrey’s McGee played three shows in Asheville as part of the 2nd annual Blue Ridge Rockway. UM started the weekend with Friday and Saturday night concerts featuring support from Greensky Bluegrass at ExploreAsheville.com Arena followed by a more intimate Sunday evening performance at The Orange Peel. Today, Umphrey’s has shared professionally-shot video of the second set opener from Saturday’s rock show.

Umphrey’s McGee began Saturday’s second set with a standout version of guitarist Jake Cinninger’s “Mulche’s Odyssey.” The song dates back to Jake’s time in Ali Baba’s Tahini before he joined UM. In Asheville, the six-piece opened up “Mulche’s” nicely as they toyed with the tempo from slow and throbbing to hard-hitting and intense over the course off 11+ impressive minutes.
