Chicago’s own Umphrey’s McGee rang in 2017 at the Aragon Ballroom in their hometown with a three-set New Year’s Eve show featuring guests, debuts, bust outs and more. One of the debuts was a Sturgill Simpson cover and the band has shared pro-shot video for our viewing enjoyment.
Umphrey’s McGee teamed with Mad Dog and his Filthy Little Secret horns to end the second set on December 31 with a spot-on rendition of country-rocker Sturgill Simpson’s “Call To Arms.” The song ends Simpson’s critically-acclaimed 2016 album A Sailor’s Guide to Earth. Guitarist Jake Cinninger not only sang the cover, but he also delivered a frenetic and powerful guitar solo. Watch how it went down:
