By Scott Bernstein Mar 16, 2017 • 2:23 pm PDT
Grateful Dead tribute act Joe Russo’s Almost Dead return to Brooklyn Bowl tonight in New York City for the first of three shows featuring Oteil Burbridge subbing on bass. The five-piece’s regular bassist, Dave Dreiwitz, held down the bottom end at three Brooklyn Bowl JRAD performances last weekend and this weekend plays with Ween in Chicago. Brooklyn Bowl recently shared video from last Saturday’s finale on its YouTube channel.
In the video below we see Almost Dead working through the Go To Heaven gem “Althea.” Tom Hamilton provides spot-on vocals and then fans are treated to three different solos. Keyboardist Marco Benevento is up first followed by Scott Metzger going to town before Hamilton delivers a solo of his own. Watch JRAD’s “Althea” from Saturday, March 11:
