Pro-Shot Video: Joe Russo’s Almost Dead Debuts ‘Silvio’ At Brooklyn Bowl
By Andy Kahn Oct 21, 2016 • 10:14 am PDT
Grateful Dead tribute act Joe Russo’s Almost Dead held a three night stand at Brooklyn Bowl in New York City earlier this month. The band has shared official video footage of a highlight from the October 6 opening show of the run featuring JRAD’s debut performance of a Bob Dylan song.
Following their first set and an unannounced short acoustic set on a mini stage built over the venue’s bowling lanes, drummer Joe Russo, keyboardist Marco Benevento, bassist Dave Dreiwitz and guitarists Scott Metzger and Tom Hamilton returned for an electric set two. A brief jam started the second half before Metzger took lead vocals on “Silvio” which Dylan wrote with longtime Dead lyricist Robert Hunter and recorded with members of the legendary band on his 1988 LP Down In The Groove.
Watch the 10-camera, pro-shot debut performance from Fall Ball II here:
