Pro-Shot Video: Holly Bowling Interprets Grateful Dead ‘Beautiful Jam’ At Terrapin Crossroads

On February 18, 1971 the Grateful Dead inserted a piece of music within a “Dark Star” > “Wharf Rat” > “Dark Star” sequence at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York that is absolutely gorgeous. In fact, when the sequence was officially released as part of the So Many Roads box set in 1999 it was titled “Beautiful Jam.” Pianist Holly Bowling interpreted the “Beautiful Jam” as part of her recent performance at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, California.
Holly played Terrapin Crossroads to celebrate the release of Better Left Unsung, an album featuring her interpretations of Grateful Dead songs. Bowling has shared pro-shot video of the “Beautiful Jam” she worked into her Terrapin Crossroads performance. Watch how it went down:
