On Friday night The Disco Biscuits hit the midway point of their three-night hometown stand at The Fillmore Philadelphia. The jamtronica act continued to dig into their bag of tricks busting out a pair of long-lost tunes that have their roots in a side-project along with dusting off a forgotten cover over the course of their two-set show in Philly.

The four-piece band got their second night in the City of Brotherly Love underway with a pair of old-school tunes that got debuted during their early days with “Helicopter” and an inverted take on “Little Betty Boop.” The band offered up their first surprise of the night next as looked to keyboardist Aron Magner and Marc Brownstein side-project Conspirator for “Commercial Amen” – busting out the tune for the first time since March 10, 2010, a span of 278 shows. The 18th ever take on the “Commercial Amen” segued back into “Helicopters” with “Save The Robots” bringing the first frame to a close.

The Disco Biscuits kicked-off their fourth set of the run with “Spraypaint.” The Jon Gutwillig-penned tune, which was first played back in 2002 and later appeared on the band’s 2011 release Otherwise Law Abiding Citizens worked its way into the second bust-out of the night. tDB once again looked to the Conspirator catalog as they trotted out “Boom Shanker,” which had been sitting on the shelf since May 27, 2010. “Mulberry Dream” got the inverted treatment with “Tempest” > “Tricycle” following. The band bookended their second set with the way they started it as they segued back into “Spraypaint” to close things out.

The Biscuits returned to the stage for a two-song encore by first unearthing their cover of J.J. Cale’s “After Midnight” for the first time in over three years. It was the untz-rockers second ever performance of the tune that Eric Clapton made famous with their only other attempt coming at the Ogden Theater back in April of 2015. The band segued into “Spacebirdmatingcall” to bring the night to end.
