Toronto-based vocal collective Choir! Choir! Choir! recently brought together hundreds of singers to honor the Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin. Choir! Choir! Choir! shared their stirring rendition of “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” in tribute to Franklin, who died on August 16 at the age of 76.
“On August 16, 2018, the world lost one of the greatest voices it had ever heard. Aretha Louise Franklin was one of a kind, with the ability to take songs to heights never before reached. Her musical and cultural influence is impossible to put into words. She will never be forgotten,” reads a note from C!C!C!. “We honored her in the best way we know how: by gathering hundreds together to sing one of her most iconic & beautiful songs.”
Carole King and Gerry Goffin co-wrote “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” for Franklin. Aretha scored a top ten hit with the single in 1967 and it became one of her signature songs. Franklin’s version recently charted in the U.K. in the week following her passing, 51 years after the single was initially released.
