Pro-Shot Full Show Video: The Disco Biscuits Dust Off Covers In Denver

The Disco Biscuits are currently entrenched in Colorado for the 2018 installment of Bisco Inferno, which includes a trio of shows at The Ogden Theater in Denver ahead of a headlining gig at the historic Red Rock Amphitheater on Sunday. On Friday night the Philadelphia-based band hit the midway point of the four-date swing that saw them dig into their repertoire for a number of deep cuts which included a pair of bust out covers and a long-lost original in the Mile High City.

The jamtronica act got their night going at the 1,600-person capacity venue with “Let’s Go Crazy,” dusting off the Prince cover for the first time since October 27, 2016. From there, the quartet delivered a lengthy segue-filled run which would fill out the opening frame that was full of deeper cut songs. “Resurrection” kicked things off with the song seeing action for just the 29th time since it was first played back in 2003. “Sound One” followed, as the tune from 2002’s Señor Boombox was played for just the 95th time ever.

tDB kept the deep cuts coming with “Air Song,” which was debuted as part of the “Spin the Wheel Part Deux” show at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey in 2007 and was trotted out for just its 45th performance. The Biscuits closed out their third set of the run with “A Fifth Of Beethoven,” playing the Walter Murphy and the Big Apple Band cover from the soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever for the first time since March of 2016 and just the sixth time overall.

The Disco Biscuits began their second set of the night with “Triumph.” An unfinished take on “Spacebirdmatingcall” worked its way into “Liquid Handcuffs.” The tune from the Aron Magner and Marc Brownstein side-project Conspirator was dusted off for the first time since March 21, 2010 at Brooklyn Bowl – a span of 283 shows. The band reached for another rarity as “Portal To An Empty Head” was played for just the ninth time since it was in heavy rotation back in 2011. The Biscuits closed out the frame with “Spraypaint Victory.” For the encore, the band went with the first “Highwire” since July of last year to bring their night to an end.
