Pro-Shot Full Show Video: The Disco Biscuits 2016 Bisco Inferno Night 2
By Andy Kahn Jun 3, 2016 • 8:02 am PDT

Last night, The Disco Biscuits played the second night of a three-show stand at Denver’s Ogden Theatre as part of their 2016 Bisco Inferno Colorado run. The foursome offered a free live webcast of Thursday’s show and for Full Show Friday, below is the entire pro-shot performance which has been shared by the band.
The night began with tDB opening with a couple of rarities in the form of the commonly paired “Stone” > “The Devil’s Waltz.” A “Mulberry’s Dream” featuring a partial “Catalyst” within came next, before “Hope” > “Reactor” closed out the first half.
Set two opened with Bisco debuting a cover of “Cissy Strut” by The Meters which segued into “Trucker’s Choice.” After offering “Digital Buddha” and an inverted “And The Ladies Were The Rest Of The Night,” The Biscuits busted out “Widow In The Rain” which was last played on Halloween 2010, some 160 shows ago. The ending of “Digital Buddha” and “Rockafella” wrapped up the second set. “Highwire” and the ending of “Svenghali” took up the encore slot as the second night of Bisco Inferno drew to a close.
Bassist Marc Brownstein took to Facebook to describe the circumstances that led to the impromptu performance of “Cissy Strut,” writing:
I wish that I could even describe the synchronicity that led to us teasing Cissy Strut and then ultimately playing most of the song. I’ll try:
It started as a joke suggestion backstage about 3 minutes before the set started. It progressed to accapella singing of the song, which I’ve never played the bass line of once, amazingly. then as a joke I sort of just started teasing it at the beginning of the set, but you can hear, I’ve never played it and need to feel it out. Then, Allen starts playing the beat of Truckers, and Cissy Strut fits over the song perfectly.
It was one of those magical moments where everything just blends together, and the band plays a song live in front of a sold out theater that we’ve never practiced.
Luckily I watched the video of George Porter explaining how to play and how not to play the bass lines of that song.
Bisco Inferno continues tonight with the last of three tDB concerts at the Ogden. Tonight’s show is available as a free webcast and Saturday’s finale at Red Rocks will be livestreamed (including opener Twiddle) via nugs.tv.
