Pro-Shot: ALO Performs “Maria” At This Year’s AURA Music & Arts Festival

As hard as it is to believe, California rockers ALO had never played the Spirit Of The Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida before a performance at this year’s AURA Music & Arts Festival earlier this month. AURA organizers have started to roll out 4K, high-definition video footage from this year’s festival on its YouTube channel and have shared ALO’s “Maria” from the band’s Friday night set at Suwannee.
The quartet made their Suwannee debut count by loading their set with classics. ALO worked fan-favorites “Blew Out The Walls,” “Walls Of Jericho,” “Falling Dominoes,” “I Love Music,” “Maria” and “Barbecue” within their performance. Towards the middle of their set ALO welcomed Carly Meyers and Adam Gertner of ROAR for “Cowboys & Chorus Girls.” Watch the professionally-shot footage of “Maria” from ALO’s AURA set:
The band originally recorded “Maria” as the opening song and first single off their 2007 studio album Roses & Clover. Keyboardist Zach Gill, who wrote the tune, handles vocals and ALO is known for using “Maria” as the base to launch jams. The AURA version was no exception with plenty of full band improv included within.
ALO recently helped JamBase kick off our new video series Twenty Years Later. Watch the group’s cover of “The New Pollution” by Beck and head here for more including ALO’s banter about their big 1996:
