The Prince Estate released previously unheard Prince track “Witness 4 The Prosecution (Version 2).” The new song from the iconic artist’s legendary vault will appear on the upcoming deluxe reissue of Prince’s 1987 album, Sign O’ The Times.

“Witness 4 The Prosecution (Version 2)” follows previously unheard tracks “I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man” and “Cosmic Day.” As per a statement, Country music artist Deborah Allen asked Prince to write her a song and he decided to rework “Witness 4 The Prosecution.” While the original version sees contributions from the Revolution, “Version 2” is almost exclusively Prince, save for Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss on sax and trumpet respectively. The version also sees Prince expertly layering in five different Fairlight keyboard tracks and seven layers of his own background vocals. The Purple One decided to keep the song and offered Allen “Telepathy” instead.
