The Prince Estate and Warner Records shared the previously unheard Prince track, “Cosmic Day.” The song will land on the upcoming expanded, deluxe reissue of Prince’s 1987 double album, Sign O’ The Times, due out September 25.

“Cosmic Day” follows the release of a previously unheard version of “I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man.” Recorded at Sunset Sound, Studio 3 on November 15, 1986 by engineers Coke Johnson and Susan Rogers, the new track “reveals Prince at his most psychedelic,” according to a statement. “From the race car ignition sounding intro to the screaming guitar finale, Prince sings about Mermen in the sky and flying in the deep sea.”

“In my fantasy world, I always live far away from the public at large, usually on a mountain, sometimes a cloud, and even in an underwater cave,” as per a quote from Prince included with the statement.

The track features Prince using his “Camile” voice and sees the insanely talented multi-instrumentalist blending real and synth drums as well as a number of keyboard parts. While the full version of the song is just seeing the light of day, fresh out of Prince’s legendary vault, snippets of the tune have circulated among collectors and the iconic artist himself used pieces of the track as intermission music on his 1988 Lovesexy Tour.
