More Prince Covers For My Morning Jacket In Houston

By Scott Bernstein Apr 29, 2016 9:38 am PDT

On Thursday night, Louisville rockers My Morning Jacket continued a short run of shows that mark their first performances of 2016 at Revention Music Center in Houston, Texas. Jim James & Co. honored Prince for the second night in a row as they played two of The Purple One’s songs they had debuted the previous night.

My Morning Jacket stuck to a similar script in Houston as they did in Oklahoma City with a few exceptions. On Wednesday they strung together three Prince covers in a row, while Thursday’s show saw the band perform “Sign O The Times” early in the main and “Purple Rain” close the main set. Also, “The Way That He Sings,” “Lay Low,” “Gideon” and “Easy Morning Rebel” were performed by MMJ on Thursday but not on Wednesday. Last night’s show also saw the second performance of a new original labeled “Throwback” on stage setlists.
