Additional fan-shot footage of My Morning Jacket’s Prince tribute has surfaced. Watch “Sign O The Times,” “Raspberry Beret” and “Purple Rain” captured by Jay Elias:
Louisville rockers My Morning Jacket kicked off a short run of shows last night at The Criterion in Oklahoma City for the band’s first performance of 2016. My Morning Jacket honored Prince by performing three of The Purple One’s most beloved songs to end their main set on a night that was both frontman Jim James and drummer Patrick Hallahan’s birthdays.
Wednesday night’s show featured a career-spanning setlist that was heavy on tunes from the band’s 2015 studio album, The Waterfall. Jim James & Co. reeled off three Prince classics to end the main set starting with “Sign O The Times” and continuing with “Raspberry Beret” and “Purple Rain.” The evening ended with a lengthy encore that included the debut of a song listed as “Throwback” on the band’s stage setlist. My Morning Jacket now heads to Houston for a performance at Revention Music Center tonight.
